Review: In His Corner by Vina Arno (Cindy Fazzi)

3 Stars!

I’m a sucker for fighter romances, or really any sports themed romances. Who doesn’t want want to see the big tough guy be brought to his knees by a strong, lovable woman? This book was an instant ‘want to read.’

My first impression was that the story is rushed, and it held through to the end. The story seemed to jump instead of transition. Honestly, I wanted more of these two. I wanted more character and relationship development. I wanted to get to know their friends more. I wanted more moments of the young, full of himself alpha male and completely contradictory sweet and scared of love, Tommy; and even more of the snob Siena. The characters grew a lot in such a short amount of time, its unreal. I loved their relationship, though! I just want more!

I love that Tommy is younger than Siena, though I’m surprised that wasn’t a bigger point of confrontation in the book. I was pleasantly (and maybe not so much at times) surprised that the sex scenes were very tame and realistic (other than their voyeurism, of course). This is a book to enjoy without leaving you feeling jealous as many modern romances can do. Overall, this is a sweet, quick read and I enjoyed it.

Review: Tie Me Down Tight by Cathryn Fox

4 Stars!

This book is really enjoyable. The characters are sweet, funny and just sassy enough to make you giggle to yourself, but not role your eyes at every dialogue exchange. I was hooked from the first scene and who wouldn’t be? It was HOT! Cathryn Fox takes a traditional romance plot and makes it her own, blending erotica and humor wonderfully. This is a quick read, the perfect length for a lighthearted read with some steam and a few laughs.

I have a soft spot for book series that focus and expand on a group of friends/family. This is the first I’ve read of Cathryn Fox, but I look forward to meeting the other characters in the series.

Review: The Big Gamble by M. Andrews

4 Stars!

This book is hot! And sweet and funny. I loved the spark between Brian and Brooke. They made me laugh from their first interaction all the way to the end. They fell hard and fast for each other and at times were overly sappy for my personal taste, but the author did a great job of conveying a couple newly in love. There was just the right amount of drama and wit to keep me entertained, enough that I choose to read the book in one sitting.

Having never lost someone the way Brooke has, I wasn’t entirely able to relate to her grief process. I thought it was strange at times, but it didn’t detract from the story for me. After seeing so many teaser, I expected a bit more smut, however this book is plenty steamy!

I would have liked a longer story with more character and relationship development. I’m pleased that its just the beginning of a series with more to come from the group. I must admit, I am looking forward to Lucky and Ryder’s story a bit more than I feel is appropriate! Eek! Coming soon…

Review: Consequences by Aleatha Romig

5 Stars!

First read review:
Wow! Although I found it somewhat predictable at times, I loved the ending! It was also infuriating, never before have I wanted to scream at a book like I do a bad horror flick. Cannot wait for Truth! All I can say is, I’m rooting for Claire!

Second read review:
I think I loved this book more the second time. Having read the first 3 books in the series once already I was able to look at things a bit differently and appreciate how well the author thought out the series. There are so many little details that add to the big picture. I truly love this series and am enjoying reintroducing myself to the characters. Claire still makes me want to scream sometimes, but I honestly cannot wait to see where they all end up.

There are scenes that are not for the faint of heart, but I believe the Romig does an excellent job of conveying they scene in such a way that the reader is not turned off from the story due to too much detail or descriptors of the consequences (positive or negative). The romance offers a refreshing reprieve from the modern romance smut (not that there’s anything wrong with that). Romig gives you brief glimpses into Tony’s mind, but with the focus on Claire, it allows the reader to delve into her mindset and experience the story with Claire as she navigates her new life. As mentioned before, I’m rooting for Claire!

I cannot say enough how much I love this series and am looking forward to finishing it. Now that all the books are out, I don’t anticipate any delay!

Review: With Visions of Red: Broken Bonds Boxed Set by Trisha Wolfe

4 Stars!

I really liked this book. To be honest, I was a little unsure at first, but at 13% into the story I was HOOKED! I love the plot and the twists along the way. The characters were very interesting – a little twisted, but I think that’s the point. I enjoyed reading from multiple perspectives – I loved reading from the UNSUB’s POV in Book 3. The descriptive imagery really helps the reader imagine the crime scenes, unsure whether this is a good thing or not, but I appreciated it. I was very happy to read all 3 books at once. They are short and leave the reader hanging at the end of Books 1 and 2. I would have been annoyed to have to wait between books and find out what happens to Sadie. However, I was very satisfied with Book 3’s ending. I always appreciate a book where the author really does their research to write a good story and that’s definitely the case here. I especially like that the author didn’t over-do the facts in the book and avoided making it read like a lecture paper instead of fiction. Overall, I really enjoyed the book and it was definitely worth the read.

Other Thoughts:
I didn’t always understand the chapter names and how they related, but it was easy to ignore/overlook.
I thought Sadie cut the rope Colton put on her wrist to give to Avery?
Sadie and Colton need to work on their priorities when friends are in danger.
And I still want to know the significance of Colton’s dragon tattoo.
